Bill Thiessen, a commercial agent with RE/MAX Peformance Realty and a former development officer with CentreVenture Development Corp., said successfully converting the Prosperity Building to condos wouldn't be enough to trigger a new wave of redevelopment projects on the northern edge of the East Exchange District.
But redevelopment of the massive former Eaton's warehouse building that's kitty-corner to the Prosperity Building could have that kind of impact, he said.
"That building would change the face of that whole neighbourhood if it were redeveloped."
Thiessen and Johnson wouldn't comment on the chances of the Prosperity Building setting a new selling-price record.
"I would just say it will be interesting to see how it all plays out," Thiessen said.
